' Vasudev Adiga's ' , a famous hotel chain in the city of Bangalore, has come up with a unique and an amazing idea of helping the people with disabilities . It has collaborated with an NGO , The Association of People with Disability (APD) ,to make it possible to provide employment opportunities to such people .
Kiran Devariya, CEO, APD, said, "Jacob Kurian, CEO of Vasudev Adiga's came to us with an interesting concept of training the disabled to get into mainstream jobs. We listed out certain sets of jobs like vegetable cutting, Idli making, coffee and tea making, store keeper and accountant, cashier at self-service section and fine dine, dish washing, juice and ice-cream making, wet grinding, chat section and parcel counter staff and accordingly created a programme of six weeks and trained disabled people. We started this training from 2014 and almost five batches have passed out till date. "
The result ? Now , there are almost 120 disabled people working in 27 outlets of Vasudev Adiga's spread across Bangalore .
Last year , APD had managed to place 100 people at various call centers like Just For You , Aegis , Vindhya Infotech .
