BRAVEHEART WHO DIED SAVING GIRL,HAD RESCUED THIRTY PEOPLE

Ramesh Walunje , the man who died, trying to save an 18 year old girl from drowning, had previously rescued as many as 30 people from the sea off Bandra Bandstand . He used to live very close to the sea , and whenever he heard of anyone drowning he would rush to rescue them .

Walunje was a driver by profession and on Saturday morning when he was going to work , he heard screams of the girl's friend Mustarin Khan .Tragedy struck when the three friends Tarranum Ansari , Anjum Khan and Mustarin were clicking selfies on one of the rocks that rise out of the sea at low tides .They were caught unaware as the tide came back . Tarranum and Anjum lost their balance and slipped . Walunje immediately rushed to help the girl and her friend who was also drowning . Walunje , managed to save her friend but couldn't save her and drowned in the process .

A Bandra fir officer said , "He always rushed in to help because he lived close to the sea . He has saved atleast 30 youngsters who risk their lives . Most of the time , Walunje reached out to help in our rescue operations too."

"He was very helpful . Even if he got a phone call at midnight , he would dash out of the house to help. He used to donate blood at medical camps without letting us know ," Ramesh's sister said .
Ramesh is survived by wife and 3 kids . While his family stares at an unsure future , it is proud of his sacrifice .
