Mitali , a Class VI student said , " we appeal to the public to not follow the rule under the fear of being penalised but should voluntarily do so. If few people take the lead , many people will follow them ." Isn't she absolutely right ?
The students took to the road wearing masks and showing posters with various messages . Many students cycled to the north campus on Friday shouting slogans like ,"Save Delhi , Save India" .
Srija Gautam , a Hindu College student said , " The formula might pose certain difficulties in the beginning as a majority of people find travelling by cars comfortable . But we have to make a start somewhere and now is the time . Save Delhi , Save India!"
The students have vowed to restrict the use of cars to only Sundays and use the metro or cycles to reach school depending upon where they stay .
Thousands of volunteers are helping the traffic police in making the pilot plan a success , that will stay in force till 15th January. Thousands of civil defence volunteers , traffic police personnel , enforcement teams of the Delhi government's transport department and authorized sub-divisional have been deployed to implement the scheme by the Delhi Government . If the scheme is violated , it will attract a penalty of Rs 2000 under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act .
